Flame of the West
Team 2584 is a team made and run by a fun-loving and hard working group. Together, we are learning valuable engineering skills such as CAD, machining, programming, and the importance of strong engineering documentation. These experiences are preparing us for the opportunities that await us at the college level and beyond.
Our Team:
Our team is highly active in the community and is always preparing for another big event. Centered at Reseda High and Viewpoint School, together we collaborate to create the best robots possible. Computer Scientists, Engineers, Mechanics, Outreach Coordinators, and more all unite as Flame of the West. We have competed across the nation at on and offseason events including LA Regional, Tidal Tumble, and the FRC World Championship.

At Team 2584 we aspire to inspire. We hope to foster a love of STEM throughout all ages, backgrounds, and identities.
Allow Everyone to learn about STEM
Through partnerships with Girls in STEM club, community outreach opportunities like Wings Over Camarillo, children’s books, and VEX IQ teams we make sure everyone has opportunities in STEM.
Recruit, Teach and Inspires
Through STEM fairs, flyers, and more we have created a community team where anyone can be a part of the FIRST experience and gain skills they need to succeed in the future,
Prepare for College and Future Education
100% of our team members continue on to future education in Engineering, Computer Science, and many other degrees as they prepare to change the world.

Our Robots
Every FRC season our team brings something new to the table with a robot built in just 6 weeks. Here are some of our past competitiors.
Spitfire
2021/2022 SEASON, Rapid react
Spitfire utilizes a West Coast Drive and dual flip-out intakes to quickly pick up cargo from any direction. An adjustable hood and flywheel speed allows for quick shooting from anywhere on the field. Finally, a dual climbing mech allows for quick and consistent climbing to the traversal run at the end of the match.
Dreadnaught
2020 / 2021 season, infinite recharge
Dreadnaught showcases a powerful west coast drive and launch power cells from 2 high speed flywheels. A 180 degree turret and limelight allow for autonomous precise shooting and a climbing mechanism allows for maximum endgame points.
Red Rover
2019 / 2020 Season, Deep space
Red Rover utilizes a swinging arm capable of lifting up to 6′ (?). It has a West Cost Drive paired with a limelight to line up with scoring objects. Additionally, it can climb to HAB level 3 for a huge endgame boost.
Community
“Team 2584 is like a family. Everyone works together and has fun throughout the entire year, not just the 6-week season. FRC has taught me so much about myself and engineering. I would definitely be a completely different person without Flame of the West.”
